Fragments, my short form series is a collection of three one-minute videos inspired by songs from Dove Cameron. The series explores the experience of being a girl and feeling completely alone in the world. Each video captures a different emotional response to that first sadness, then anger, and finally acceptance and moving forward. I created these videos as part of a class assignment, where I had to produce three pieces that were connected thematically and stylistically.
I chose Dove Cameron's music because every time I listen to her songs, I feel like a full, authentic story is being told. Her music feels deeply real, and I wanted to expand those emotions by creating my own interpretation of what she's expressing.
At the end of each video, the girls look directly into the camera, breaking the fourth wall. This moment creates a direct, intimate connection with the viewer, inviting them to witness and share in their emotions. It symbolizes a moment of self-awareness and vulnerability.

The first video, FRAGILE THINGS, follows a girl who tries to flirt with a boy she likes, only to find out he has a girlfriend. When she confronts him, he becomes angry and pushes her away, leaving her isolated and alone. This video explores feelings of rejection and vulnerability, highlighting the pain of being pushed away when reaching out for connection.
The second video, Sand, tells the story of a girl who is part of a trio of friends but constantly feels left out. She begins feeling sad and isolated but soon shifts to anger, vowing to take revenge. This video reflects the frustration and hurt that come from feeling exiled by those closest to you.
The third video, God's Game, follows a girl whose friends leave her alone at the lunch table once they finish eating, leaving her feeling sad and abandoned. But then, a new friend introduces himself and sits with her, showing her that she doesn't need to hold onto old friendships to find true connection. This video explores themes of loneliness, hope, and the power of new beginnings.
