I started with a basic sketch using lots of greens and browns to create the look of leaves, sticks, and natural textures. with lots of greens and browns to represent the leaves and sticks.
As I progressed, I incorporated more sticks after the director shared his vision of the tree being made up of mostly branches rather than greenery.
My final sketch combined elements from the first two by including both sticks and a green mesh to represent leaves. This approach maintained the tree like appearance while keeping the greenery minimal and emphasizing the stick based structure.
My final monster costume featured minimal sticks and leaves attached to directly to the costume, with green paint blotches across the surface to evoke the natural textures of a tree without overwhelming the design.
I also added a cape to enhance the flowing, organic feel of the tree-like design. I cut up the edges of the cape and tatered it slightly to increase the mobility and show that nature is not perfect.

The Grandma costume started off with a full outfit that had a bright blue color and a pearl necklace.
Due to the actress's limited changing time, I changed it to just a suit coat with a very dark blue color.
The final costume had a slightly lighter color that better contrasted the black base costume. It also had a shorter suit coat for a more stylish look.
